DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED!   We will be rescheduling the course in 2024. \n__________________________________________________________________________________________ \n  \nInto: Join at Sit Means Sit in Fredrick for our Advanced K9 Trauma Course! \nCourse Information: This 8 hour advanced course is designed for the working K9. Police K9 handlers\, Search and Rescue\, Firefighters\, EMT- Basic’s and Paramedics. Course also includes the detail of SB14-039 that was passed into law in 2014 allowing EMS providers to provide treatment to domestic animals. All students will learn all aspects of K9 emergency care\, with lectures\, demonstrations and hands on skills practice. At the end of the course we will run a series of MOCK scenarios to ensure competency. \nContents: Advanced Trauma Care Guidelines and review of SB 14-039\, First Aid Kits\, Dog Behavior\, K9 Positioning\, Restraining and Muzzling\, Normal Vital Signs\, O2 Support\, Basic and Advanced CPR including Resuscitation Medications\, Choking\, Massive Bleeding\, Ear Wrap\, Tail Wrap\, Ear Care\, Eye Injuries\, Pad injuries\, Broken Nails\, Puncture Wounds including bullet and knife wounds\, Lameness\, Narcotics and Narcan\, Post Search Decontamination\, Poisons\, Seizures\, Diabetes\, Heat Stroke\, IV Catheter Insertion\, Applying SPo2\, Tension Pneumothorax Decompression\, K9 Intubations\, Bloat Decompression\, Chest Trauma\, Electrical Injuries\, Porcupines\, Skunks\, Surgical Cricothyrotomy\, EKG Placements. \nStudents who are requiring consummate training for an EMS agency will be required to complete a test at the end of the course for certification. \n\nCapacity: Course is limited to 35 Students. Early registration is requested. \n\nGround Rules: Please no dogs to this event. Service dogs are always welcome. Lunch is provided and you may bring food and non alcoholic drinks of your choice.
